Baby clothes are by far the most common gift given to new babies. Who can resist miniature sleepers, dresses and baby booties? Not only are baby clothes cute, but they are also very practical, as babies go through a number of outfits each day. Baby Clothing Sizes

When you're buying baby clothes, always go one size up if you're not sure. Don't buy a 0-3 sleeper set for a baby who's nearing three months old. Also, keep in mind that babies vary in size, so a department store shirt made for a newborn may be too small for a larger infant. Buying bigger clothes is always the best option for baby clothes, as parents can roll up sleeves or legs of clothes for smaller babies, and use them for a few months as the baby grows.

New parents will probably receive tons of newborn clothing, maybe even more than their baby could ever wear! Parents will definitely appreciate a set of clothing for a six-month old or one year old baby. Just remember what season it will be when the baby reaches that age - a snowsuit in June or a bathing suit in November is not such a good gift!
 

Girls' Baby Clothing

Baby clothes for girls are always adorable, and quite often ruffled and frilly. While it can be tempting to choose the lacy pink dress and matching tights, think about how much it will get worn. It's far more practical to buy sleeper sets, baby t-shirts and pants, rather than formal outfits that will get used once or not at all.

Boys' Baby Clothing

These days, baby clothing is becoming more unisex: colors like green, yellow and white are suitable for boys or girls. Baby clothes in these colors are also perfect for friends and family who are shopping before the birth of the baby, and have no idea what the sex will be. It's still common, however, to give blue clothing to boys, and pink to girls.

For infant boys, band t-shirts and clothing with trucks or motorcycles are an adorable choice. Parents will love dressing up their baby in funny t-shirts or hats that have humourous messages. Sports-themed clothing is also ideal for baby boys, especially if the parents like sports. You can find small baseball or basketball jerseys, soccer shorts and football hats for any little one.

Baby clothing is one of the best gifts to give, as it's sure to get a lot of use and will save the parents from having to buy more sleeper sets or baby t-shirts as their infant grows. You can always ask the parents what they need or want for their baby - maybe they don't have a baby coat, or have already received a lot of baby jeans.
